Patriot Day is celebrated in five states except Massachusetts. Maine (Patriot Day), Florida, Wisconsin, Connecticut, and North Dakota. 

Wisconsin became her third state to declare Patriot Day in 2001. Although not a state holiday, it is celebrated on April 19th each year. Public schools across the state mark the day by detailing the first shots of the Revolutionary War in Massachusetts.

Lexington and Concord are traditionally the center of the day's celebrations, with reenactments, ceremonies, historical exhibits, and parades in each city. For a detailed schedule of events, visit the City of Lexington website and the Minute Man National Historical Park website. 

Boston hosts its own annual parade, culminating in the flag-raising ceremony at City Hall, the laying of the wreath at the graves of Major William Dawes and Paul Revere, and the Paul Revere Mall in the North End. The performer impersonates Dawes, and Livia begins her journey to Lexington-Green.

Boston and Concord parades start at 9am. Lexington leaves at 2pm.Somerville hosts the Patriots Day Colonial Fair at Foss Park from 10am to 11:30am.

Somerville will host a Patriots' Day Colonial Fair at Foss Park from 10-11:30 a.m. to welcome "Paul Revere," as he rides through town. Arlington is also hosting a celebration, beginning at 11 a.m. at Town Hall to greet the riders.

In addition to the historic celebrations of the holiday, Patriots' Day is traditionally a busy day in the city.The Boston Red Sox always play at home with an unusual 11:10 start. 

And Bean Town's most popular sporting event, the Boston Marathon welcomes runners from around the world every Patriots Day for a grueling 26.2-mile race, starting in Hopkinton.
